What should i use for DOMAIN NAME field during installation of OAS 4.0.8.2 on Windows 2000 without connecting to network or internet .
i installed oracle 8.1.6 and OAS 4.0.8.2a on my laptop (OS - windows 2000 ). Installation was successful but i cannot access oas mgr home page. What should i give during installation process host/domain name information dialog box ? I gave my machine name for host name and for domain name when i left it blank installation cannot proceed further and asked me to enter domain name. Because i am using it as a standalone i just gave a name and installation was successful and now i cannot access my
oas mgr page.

I have experienced this same problem myself...the
problem has to do with what domain name you have
setup for your Windows 2000 machine. Make sure
that under the networking properties (TCP/IP) of
Win2K, you specify the domain name that your
server belongs to. The OAS installer screen that
allows you to specify the domain name should
auto-populate the hostname and domain name fields
for you. I have found that if you don't specify
the domain name under Windows and the installer
comes up blank for the domain name field, even if
you enter it by hand, OWAS does not operate correctly.
I hope that helps.

My exerience is it will not work on Win 2000 professional. You need to run WIN 2000 server, and the DNS service so you can set up a domain. You also need to make your machine primary domain controller once you set up win server.
