Has anyone had any experience putting 2 application server instances on a single host? We want to "save money" (tsk!) by combining 2 development application servers onto one host. I have never installed OAS, but have configured it.

Would 2 different Oracle HOMEs be the first step? Yeesh, penny pinchers.

Depending on what and how you want to configure, you may actually end-up with two ORACLE_INFRA_HOME, two ORACLE_MIDTIER_HOME and two IASDB (seed database).
Many OAS components will just "sit" in memory even though it rarely gets used.
If the hardware resources allow, there should not be any issues.
Also certain configurations with reports/portal etc could require little more attention.

Thanks Mahesh for the insight.

Yeah, we will have forms services and reports servers in each instance, in addition to the infrastructure DB for SSO. Plus, we mount a directory with source code onto the DB servers so that forms can execute them. We'll now have to mount two of them.

I am not looking forward to it with all the configuring the second instance.
