Hi I have configured report from instance manager in apex_admin as stated in documnets. Then I have created a report and configured printing attributes for printing the report region. but whenever I try to print the report I see the error :
ORA-20001: The printing engine could not be reached because either the URL specified is incorrect or a proxy URL needs to be specified., Now I am really stuck into this. Please help.

The link seems to be only for Oracle 11g. I am using Oracle 10g Enterprise Edition.

I believe that it is Apex version that matters, not database version.

In all the documentations on Apex Installation and post installation tasks, they have Network configuration for Oracle 11g. They provided a pl/sql blok to resolve the problem for 11g. In the a ferquent soled problems link by oracle said that If Apex is not configured for network configuration, when you try to print the report you will get the report printing error. ORA-20001: The printing engine could not be reached because either the URL specified is incorrect or a proxy URL needs to be specified. Now if ther is pl/sql code for Oracle 11g there should be some solution for 10g also. But where is that?? I have got no help yet to resolve this problem.

Did you try to use PL/SQL code (you are talking about) on 10g?

I might be wrong, but: until recently the latest Apex version was 3.2. You could install it separately, or you could get it along with Oracle 10g Express Edition database. I don't know whether database 11g contains Apex or not; if it does, it is (was) probably also Apex 3.2. Does it mean that printing problems are solved equally in 11g and 10g? I'd say that it is worth trying.

I am using Oracle 10g enterprise edition, I have setup oracle companion CD to install Apex 3.2 in Oracle 10g EE. It is working just fine for all the jobs other than report printing. Oracle 11 has Apex installed by default, but u need to upgrade it to apex 3.2. Then u have to run the pl/sql code given in the installation documentation, else you cant print report. this is what's written in the manual, I did not try it in 11g. I have tried the code in 10g, DBA_NETWORK_ACLS table or view does not exist is the error, it's not working. I need to do it in 10g EE, but yet to find any solution. please any body....

It appears I was wrong; I was hoping that code would work on 10g too. Sorry.

Hi, problem solved. The key to printing is to install Oracle BI Publisher. I have installed BI Publisher 10.1.3 and configured Apex to incorporate BI Publisher, and then set the report printing attribute. The PL/SQL for Oracle 11g is applicable only for 11g. Means that even if you install BI Publisher in Oracle database 11g environment you have to run the Network configuration PL/SQL. Else you cannot print report. For 10g EE you only need to install BI and necessary configurations..
