Hi,
I'd like to know if Oracle 10.1.0.2.0 is compatible with Windows 2008 R2 x64.
Is there any patch to download from the Metalink of Oracle?
Thx for your replies.
Sak.

Metalink gives you the certification matrix.
So have a look at it, we can't say more than Metalink.

Regards
Michel

No, it is not certified. As of now, only 11g R2 is certified with this version of MS Windows operating system.

Littefoot, Thx for the reply, that's what I understood when I search on the Metalink site.
Sak.

Actually - I don't believe what is stated above is true. 10.2.0.4 is supposed to be certified and able to run on Windows 2008 R2 in the x86_64 world. There are some things you have to do differently to install 10gr2 on 2008, because the default installer for 10.2.0.1 won't work on 2008. If you have a Metalink account, you might want to look at 783296.1.

Sadly, I am running almost 400 two-node RAC clusters on Windows Itanium, and as such there is no (current) version of 10g that will run on Windows 2008 for Itanium.

OK, but - you are not referring to a version Sak is interested in. He is talking about 10.1.0.2.0, while you are talking about 10.2.0.4.

Metalink's Certification matrices clearly says that only 11g R2 is certified with MS Windows 2008 R2 x64.

So - what is it that you don't believe to be true?

True, people managed to install and use different unsupported and not certified combinations of an Oracle database and operating system, but that's just what it is - unsupported. Not really for a production systems, I guess.

Version is 10gR2. Point release would be 10.2.0.4. The OP asked for the possibility of a patch to make it work on Windows 2008. The 'patch' would be the 10.2.0.4 point release. I don't believe anyone would ever want to just run 10.2.0.1 - not in production - too many bugs in 10.2.0.1. To believe the OP was not interested in a version of 10gR2 that WOULD run on Windows 2008 might be true, but I believe it would be unlikely. And while Certify might state that 11gR2 is the only version available to run on Windows 2008, clearly 10.2.0.4 is also certified, supported, and available for Windows 2008.

Oh, "patch" is the keyword here! OK, got it. Thank you for the explanation.
