Hi ,

We have to configure Dataguard for our 24x7 critical banking 2 Node RAC database(10.2.0.4). Before proceeding with the configuration we have to make sure what steps we should follow to have minimum or no downtime. I would really appreciate if senior members of this forum can clear my ponits.

1) Document covering DG setup in RAC environment.
2) We have to perform switchover as well so need its steps too,
Either the normal switchover steps would be used or have to stop/start rac services as well.

I will be waiting for update. Thanks

Regards,
Yasir

Thanks Michel, while configuring DG in RAC we have to make changes on both Primary Nodes(spfile)?

If you are worried about parameter changes and downtime, the only problem is DB_UNIQUE_NAME. All other relevant parameters are dynamic, but this one is static. So if I were you, I would set it at the next opportunity (if it isn't set already) and then you can establish your standby environment whenever you want.

Sorry, but no: I thought that I had already answered exactly that. What is it that is not clear?

I mean in RAC environment we have two nodes(primary) node1,node2 . Both nodes have different spfiles. So while configuring DG we have to make changes
on both nodes(node1,node2) parameter files? Hope i have clear my question. I understand DB_UNIQUE_NAME scenario.

Sorry, man, I don't understand your problem. You are repeating the same thing, the only extra information is that you have separate spfiles for the two instances (which, by the way, is a bad idea.)
I'll sign off, perhaps someone else can help.
