the order we write the code effects the performance of a query?

Most of the time, no.
But it is smarter to learn how to write a query.

We have a Performance Tuning forum, you can read the many questions that have been posted.
We also have, in this forum, a sticky How to tune SQL or Identify Performance Problem and Bottleneck, you can read it and the links it points to.
