We have Streams setup in Prod P1
for minimizing downtime during Application release
- It is accomplished by having 2 schemas N2 and N4 and only one
is active in Production P1
- Streams is setup between N2 and N4 schemas
- During Application release we have N2 replicating to N4 and
release happens on N4 and once the app release completes, the application points to N4 schema and N2 schema is dropped.
This process repeats where, after every app release there is either N4 or N2 active.
- In this current setup, we would like to have another database R1 where we want to setup Streams to replicate R2 schema from P1 database(N2 or N4 schema). Now we have challenge to setup R1 schema on R1 database using Streams, as either N2 or N4 schema
will be dropped during app release
- Please provide your expertise on how to overcome this challenge in setting up R1 database using Streams?

Thank you for your help

I think you will have to re-create the capture/propagation/apply and re-instantiate the objects every time you switch schemas.

I wonder multiple schemas is the best way to do this. I see that you are on release 11.1, could you use editions to upgrade your application within one schema, rather than using two?

Editions are not available in 11.1 (but ORA$BASE one), only in 11.2.
