Hi
why do i get ORA-12560: TNS:Protocol adaptor error whenever i try to run svrmgrl.exe and i think that prevents me in connecting using INTERNAL user account to the database.
Iam new to this DBA field..i will appreciate your help if you don't mind even my question is silly..

do you happen to be using Oracle on Windows?
If so, i know you get this error if your OracleServiceSIDNAME is not running.

I have installed client version of 8i in my machine(programmers level)..
but whenever i tried to log on with scott/tiger or system/adminstrator i got this message?
