hi! i am having a problem in my database.i am working on oracle8.1.7 as back end.my database is a production
database ,and so many users are connected to it frequently.so many of the tables in the database are being locked.and the databse access is becoming slow.so what is the necessary steps that i should take.so i will be greatful if any one gives the solution.

Why do you think that an Oracle table should be locked?
What are your users doing (inserts/updates/selects) ?
What do you mean by "many users" (100s or 1000s)?
Which Software/OS/Hardware are you using?

hi! mike,

nice to here from u,i don't want the orac tables to be locked,my users r doing updates,inserts,selects.i am using windows nt and win 98.and my front end as d2k.
when my users r trying to update,insert or select from same tables they r getting locked automatically.so i want to solve this problem.so pls give me the solution of this.
