Your email is quite old so I am assuming you have already worked out your problem. However, I am new at Discoverer Administration and thought I would take a stab at it.

I think you need to refresh your business area. Even though the column exists on the physical table, the column for some reason is not available when you do your validation (a possible cause for this is if your DBA added the column to the table after you built your business area). A refresh should make it available to you. I believe the Refresh option is on the File popup (ver 4.1). Under Help, search for Refresh and it should tell exactly where it is.

It would be great if you can give me feedback as to whether I am on the right track with this. But if not, that works, too.
