We are using discoverer (4.1.41.05.00) for adhoc reporting in our datawarehouse. In conjunction with unbalanced hierarchies we noticed an error in building totals.

Depending on the situation (hierarchy drilled down or collapsed) you get different results and there semmes to be no rule how dicoverer calculates the sum.

Following examples shows the different results

a) starting with hierarchies drilled down:
value
parent_1
child_1
grandchild_1 100
parent_2
child_2 100

Total: 100

b) starting with collapsed hierarchies:

parent_1 100
parent_2 100

Total: 200

Sometimes it’s usefull to collapse the hierarchy and drill down again, but there’s no rule for that.
Any ideas???

Regards,
Stefan
