hi shiva,
here is the script:
cd $ORACLE_HOME/dbs
if [[ -f sgadefDEVP.dbf ]]
then
echo "database up"
sqlplus -s scott/tiger<<!
var x number;
exec :x := 5;
print x
exit
!
else
echo "database down! about to start!!!"
sqldba lmode=y<<!
connect internal
startup
exit
!
fi
