We are building a corporate portal using Oracle Portal at the moment. Long term we would expect to use Ultra Search to index the documents that will end up in the portal.

However, right now we have a requirement to have an automated link validator for the portal. It would appear that Ultra Search would suit this need, as it uses a web crawler to support its indexing function.

My question is, is it possible to use Ultra Search to automate link validation only, without having it index the documents it finds along the way? If so, is this able to be done with Ultra Search more or less "out of the box" (including reporting on broken links), or does it require coding a custom program using the Ultra Search APIs?

(Running 9.2.0.6 on Solaris.)

Thanks for any advice!
