hi,
while installing oracle 9i on solaris 8 i hav received following error when i executed ./runInstaller
error
$ ./runInstaller: syntax error at the line 1: '(' unexpected

i hav defined shared memory and semophres as per the installation guide
but i dont know why i got this error.

moreover i hav 'oracle9i solaris 8(64bit) version' trying to install on solaris 8(32bit) platform. will this might be the cause for this error....

anyone plz help me to solve this problem....

you have tell the problem is different versions. Using the correct version to correct this.

Yes, you can not install 64bit on 32bit os
