when try to install oracle 8i in fedora core 4 it gives a error msg.

Unable to initialize threads: cannot find class java/lang/Thread
Could not create Java VM

8i is obsolete & unsupported & was NEVER certified on FC4.
Try a supported combination of Oracle & OS.

try this one export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1 and post the result we will see what we can do (mostly you will get lot of errors at various places , you may have to downgrade few critical packages)
