Hi,

after a successful upgrade from Oracle 8i to 10GR2 i recognized a very slow ODBC connection within Excel and Oracle.

We are using a lot the "Microsoft Query" function (Data-->import external data), which allows to refresh excel files easily.

This was working fine with Oracle 8i, but now it takes very long until you're able to create the SQL Query in Microsoft Query, because there are a lot of new tables which are loaded everytime.

Tables & information like:
/923b3fba_RequestInfoImpl
java/awt/font/TextHitInfo
...

These things haven't been loaded with 8i and of course, they aren't useful for "Microsoft Query". Is it maybe possible to tell "Microsoft Query" to not load these unecessary information?

thanks for any ideas that might point me to the right direction.

Excel: Version 2003, SP2
Oracle: 10GR2 (10.2.0.3.0)
