One tip I can give you is to use professional language.

"Y" = why
"b'coz" = because
"pls" = please

Thanks Maarten, I asked myself what "Y" meant.

In a sentence, I'd understand it.
Alone, my brain did not switch in the phonetic way and I just saw the letter.
And, of course, phonetic "Y" in French, we say it "i grec" (greek i), has no relation with "pourquoi" (why). Wink

Michel

I was just kidding!

However, thinking about what you've said, we don't even have Y in Croatian alphabet. How are we supposed to read it? Smile

Is IM-speak universal, or are there dialects?

For example (my schoolboy French doesn't extend too far), could you use "We" instead of "Oui" to save a letter?

What about Ks-K-Sa (for Qu'est-ce que c'est)

And does "Y" have any meaning on its own outside the phrase "Il y a"? Does it mean "there"? That would have made Nirasha's response even more cryptic Smile

And now I've exhaused my 6 years of French lessons and 8 days in New Caledonia. Sad

Bon soir - I'm going home.

I don't know about French IM, but in Dutch I've seen things like:

- W817 = W acht een zeven => Wacht eens even => Wait a minute
- ff => effe => even => a minute. As in 'Can you come here for a minute?' (Kan je ff hier komen).

But one thing I want to ask to NIRASHA that who has given this particular name to her.

Because in Hindi, nirasha means sadness . so nirasha don't get nirash just foolow the forum.
Regards,
Ashu

But Frank you can't be sure that Nirasha is from Indian Origin or not. only Nirasha can answer that I hope.
