I'm not familiar with your Reports version; however, what do you mean by "conditional formatting"? What would this "variable" contain? How would it get a value? Could you explain it a little bit more?

1.What I mean is that if a persons pay is 25000 then the values in the matrix report should not go below 15000. If there is any value below 15000 then it should be highlighted.

2. If the pay is 12000 then the value should not go below 9000, if the pay is 8000 ie pay between 8000 and 12000.

3. Like using a case in your programming. But I want to use it in the report builder. I hope my explaination of the problem is clear.

4.Each report will be for only one employee at a time.

Oh, that conditional formatting!

Check image displayed in this topic; perhaps it'll give you an idea of how to do that (if possible).
