Oracle Designer (previously called Designer/2000 and Oracle Case) is Oracle's CASE modelling tool, used for capturing and presenting business requirements. It incorporates support for system analysis, software design, automatic code generation and business process re-engineering.

History and support status[edit]

Oracle unveiled its CASE Dictionary and CASE Designer products in 1988:

  • CASE Dictionary is a multi-user shared repository for items pertaining to application development projects
  • CASE Designer is a graphical "workbench" of tools that enabled computer application analysts and designers to develop diagrams directly on a computer screen and automatically update the CASE Dictionary

Around 1998 Oracle CASE was renamed to Designer/2000. The 2000 suffix was later also dropped.

Oracle Designer is still supported, but is no longer actively being developed and lacks support for new database features.
